Charter Currents: Governor Signs 2020-21 Budget, Calls for “Target Solutions” to Growth Cap

Sacramento, CA—Governor Newsom signed the 2020-21 state Budget Act and related trailer bills into law yesterday afternoon, capping funding for growing schools and largely reversing many of the cuts he proposed in May. The governor took the unusual step of issuing a signing message for the K-12 trailer bill calling for both (1) maximizing in-person instruction and (2) “targeted” solutions to the growth cap.
