Sacramento, CA—The California Department of Public Health released two new documents containing guidance of interest to charter schools yesterday, allowing for limited small cohort instruction and addressing returning to school after infection.
The first document, the Guidance for Small Cohorts/Groups of Children and Youth, was mentioned nearly two weeks ago by Governor Newson, Superintendent Tony Thurmond, and State Board of Education President Linda Darling-Hammond during a press availability. At that time, the Governor and President Darling-Hammond specifically referenced this guidance in relation to special education students who needed to work closely with their teacher and who were unable to benefit from online instruction.
