Come this fall, all California charter schools will be subject to federal laws governing nutritionally adequate breakfasts and lunches. It’s an astonishing rule change given that California charter schools must maintain compliance with these laws regardless of their enrollment in (or even eligibility to) these federal programs.

This webinar reviews the complex mandate to provide free meals twice daily to all students starting in the 2022-23 school year and to participate in complex federal funding programs. It also provides practical tips on how to navigate this massive mandate with an eye toward nutritionally sound, yet financially and operationally sustainable, implementation in charter school settings.
The UMP affects schools differently depending on their size, demographics and whether or not they are enrolled in the federal meals program. Watch this webinar to explore key considerations and decisions for charter leaders as you prepare to implement these mandates at your school.
Review the meal service mandates and how they differ from current law and understand key operational considerations and challenges.
This webinar outlines practical implications for schools that currently do and do not participate in federal meal programs as well as discusses the "universal feeding" provisions required of schools serving significant portions of low-income students.
We'll make time to answer your specific questions and concerns during the live webinar.
