Charter Currents: Governor Newsom’s First Budget Proposal Offers “COLA and Jack” For Schools

Governor Newsom’s first budget proposal is long on aspiration and short on actual dollars when it comes to increasing funding for K-12 schools, expanding preschool, and other promises he made during his electoral campaign. Newsom appears to be continuing most of the major education funding and reform themes of the Brown Administration, with a few tweaks and big long-term ambitions.
