3 Perks of Presenting at CSDC's 2016 Conference
Published May 26, 2016 15:55
We are less than one month away from the June 20, 2016 deadline for submitting a proposal to present at the 2016 California Charter Schools Leadership Update Conference on December 8-9 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, California.
Sharing with school leaders from across the state can quickly multiply the impact of an effective practice. If you or your school is doing something especially well or innovative, we strongly encourage you to consider presenting at this year's conference in San Diego.
As a conference presenter, you'll be entitled to a number of special perks and benefits. For example:
You'll have a special spot on the conference website and grow your in-person and online professional networks.
Presenters will be given special privileges on the conference website, which they may use to post their professional bios, create discussion forum topics, and send messages to their session attendees. Presenter pages will be released later this summer. In the meanwhile, please see the 2015 conference website for an example.
Presenting at the conference also provides you with the opportunity to grow your professional network, both with the people you will meet at the event, as well as the number of LinkedIn, Twitter, and other social media invites you will likely receive before and after the conference.
You'll gain experience presenting at a major education conference.
With nearly 1,000 people registered for last year's event, the Charter Schools Leadership Update has become a major annual destination for charter school administrators, board members, authorizers, developers, and vendors.
Since the conference is well known and warmly regarded, presenting at this event will give you a great item to add to your résumé or LinkedIn profile, which you can then reference when submitting other presentation proposals or when seeking new career opportunities.
You'll receive a significant discount on your conference registration fee.
If your presentation proposal is selected, you will receive access to a special presenter registration rate of $325—significantly less than the regular non-member registration rate of $569.
Plus, as a conference registrant, you will also have access to CSDC's discounted room block (subject to availability), which yields a number of other great benefits, including:
- a $10 breakfast coupon,
- discounted overnight parking ($15 per day, discounted from the Hyatt's standard rate of $32 per day),
- complimentary guest room wi-fi, and
- late checkout (1pm, pending availability).
What types of presentations are needed?
There are two different presentation forms for which CSDC is seeking proposals:
Breakout Sessions: These 75-minute sessions are designed to provide attendees not only with key concepts, but also sufficient time for some hands-on activities to really understand the material being presented.
Workshops: These 4-hour long workshops allow presenters to go into significant depth about a topic and typically provide multiple hands-on exercises and tools for attendees. Workshops are typically conducted by people who would be considered recognized experts on the topic.
